Profile: John Adair
John Adair was born and raised in Greenock, Scotland, not far from the towering shipbuilding yards. In those days there wasn’t much light pollution and the stars in the night sky shone brightly, when it wasn’t raining that is. “John is always interested in the stars” his mother would say, but it would be some time before he would be able to realize his dream of being able to look at them, or indeed the closest one of all, our Sun.

The specific link is to the astronomy section called Stardate. Stardate is the television programme, in conjunction with the Open University, which I've helped (as an amateur) with live H Alpha images for the programme "Transit of Venus" (which won the Royal Television Society Award for the best adult education programme - a difficult subject well covered) and live Venus images for the programme "Mysteries of Venus"

BBC programme called the Sky at Night hosted by Sir Patrick Moore
Sir Patrick has helped me many times in the past by hosting my visits to his home and observatories. I ran an astronomy badge with one of the local Boy Scout groups for many years and the four top scorers in the little "exam" each year would be treated to a visit with Sir Patrick Moore at his
home. More recently I've assisted his TV programme, the Sky at Night, by providing live images of the Sun in the light of Calcium K.
