Relax, Recharge, and Soar at the Adirondack Astronomy Retreat!
|
 |
| Telescopes await the night at the 2005 AAR. |
| David and Wendee Levy invite you to join us at our 3rd annual Adirondack Astronomy Retreat. (See also the latest Ask David show on the 4M site!) It takes place in the Adirondack Mountains, near Lewis, NY (about 40 miles south of Plattsburgh. This year the dates are July 25th to 28th, 2006-- Tuesday through Friday. If you want, you can head straight from our event to Stellafane, which begins on the 28th and which is a three hour drive away. The idea is for a small, relaxing gathering (the camp can hold only 50 people). The price of $195/person includes delicious catered meals, and lodging in a cabin or in the main lodge. The accommodations are rustic, but if rustic is not for you, the hotels of Plattsburgh are only a 40 minute drive away. |

| You can bring along your telescope, or join our meteor observing party. This year the Delta Aquarid maximum in late July combines with early Perseids, hopefully to produce a strong show of meteors. This event gives you the opportunity to spend some quality time with fellow observers, including Wendee and David Levy. It gives you a chance to rediscover why you became a lover of the night sky. |

| For more information, please visit www.jarnac.org and follow the link on the left side to the Adirondack Astronomy Retreat. Also, please listen to the latest Ask David program on the Meade 4M site. The camp, Twin Valleys, is owned by the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Our National Sharing the Sky Foundation is working to place an observatory at this site-- one of the few remaining dark sky sites in the northeastern U.S. Meade 4M has already generously donated a 14-inch SCT for the project, a telescope that will be used eventually by thousands of people, either directly through the eyepiece or remotely over the web. We hope to see you there July 25-28! |

| You can hike to Horseshoe Ledge, which provides a view of our campsite and the Adirondacks. |
