Discovering the Excitement in Calcium K

CaK Sunrise with Blackbird gazing to the North.
It’s simple, I'm fascinated with light and what makes the Calcium K spectral line so exciting is that it reveals spots, plage, & prominences's. In addition, supergranulation cells that are 2.5 times greater than the diameter of our earth move across the photosphere carrying their magnetic fields with them. As the magnetic field strengthens it begins to collect around the outer edges of a cell causing the edges to heat up resulting in bright Calcium emissions revealing an awesome magnetic network.
In the realm of world class observatories images are captured via CCD and displayed on a desktop computer screen. There’s no difference with the SolarMax 70 CaK telescope and imaging is easier than you think. The simplistic approach of the Calcium K scope is brilliant! With the SolarMax 70 CaK all ready tuned to 393.4nm just focus and release the shutter. It's like having x-ray vision glasses as the thin chromosphere is revealed opening up a new world in deciphering the magnetic activity on our Sun.
Each day I become increasingly fascinated with the CaK line, so get ready as a new wave of enthusiast dive into Calcium K and begin to unearth images that will surprise & intrigue us. The latest technology shinning new light on our active Sun. The SolarMax 70 CaK is a dream come true! SteadySkies,   g a r y    p a l m e r
