I have a 14" lx200 GPS with the original autostar 3.0d.  I was having problems with goto with the scope after 6 or 7 slews and a Meade rep told me to update the firmware.

I have installed the most current ASU and have setup the comport that my blue tooth is connect to the scope with.  (I have the BlueStar Adapter)

I have ASU set to connect and retrieve at startup and it gets all info on the handset ok.  I then select Upgrade AutoStar now and I am asked where to select a source and I select internet and select ok, the download from online occurs and then it starts to upgrade the handset via the blooth.  The handset shows "downloading do not turn off" and after 30 seconds, I get connection error from the ASU.

My bluetooth is still connect, can the upgrade be done this way or does it have to be hard wired?  Any clues?

aumandg,

Since no one has offered any help, I give you my two-cents of advice...

I DO NOT KNOW if the update will work via Bluetooth.  But this is how I do it...

The safest way to upgrade the firmware is WITHOUT BEING ON-LINE.  This prevents problems with internet connections failing in the middle of the upgrade process, resulting in the need to reset the firmware (999).

Download the file (rom file) from Meade and extract it into the Meade\Autostar\updater\ephemerides directory on your laptop.

Using ASU, just load it directly into your scope (the source will be the above folder NOT the Internet).

I personnally think that Starpatch does a much better job at updating the Meade.
Starpatch is free (for the LX200 GPS) and can be found here:

http://www.stargps.ca/StarPatch.htm

Let me know if this works for you.
