Hi
you can easily put a 102mm apo on thier, the most important thing before you do is to compensate with a good balancing system, you will also need to conteract Ra AXIS rotation,to do this i simply filled the left fork arm of my 10" lx200gps with approx 2lb of lead, concealed in the unused battery compartment.
failing to balance your setup WILL resault in tracking errors beyond the control of PEC alone.

On an 8 inch I wouldnt go much more then an 80 mm
I have a 102 mm on my 10 inch and it is a bit overloaded even for the 10 inch.

Regards

You can balance almost any amount of weight. Just remember you will need about the same amount of weight to balance whever you mount on it. If things get too heavy, the mount, tripod, etc will suffer.
I changed to a lighter guide scope just because it was getting more difficult to carry it outdoors.
Now I look at the weight and distance the item will be mounted from the centerline when researching something new.
