Had a chance tonight between rain and clouds to shoot the Sculptor Galaxy. A
little difficult from my location in N. Calif as it only rises about 20 deg in
the south. Really great transparency and seeing after a frontal passage this
morning.

Twelve - five minute exposures taken with Nebulosity, stacked in DSS and
processed in Photoshop. Camera: QHY8 OSC, guided with 80mm ST/DSI & PHD.

Thanks for looking,

Brent

WOW!
One day I will take the plunge to try to do images like this!
Brent~ It would be great if you made a list of things a person would need, like Laptop to camera, to software used and then have Mark make it a sticky.
Also, a list of definitions would be great too so people like me understand what a subframe is, and other astrophotography terms.
I am interested in possibly getting a DSI III Pro this summer for my 150mm F/8 refractor.

Thanks, appreciate the complement.

Good idea about making up a list of terms, connections etc. My experience is limited to the SN10 but it would be nice to have step by step setup and imaging [and modifications etc] instructions located in one place.

You should enjoy your camera when you get it. Just one thought. I used a DSI-3 one shot color for awhile until summer came along and the temps were over 90F in the evening. The CCD noise was really bad. I switched to the QHY8 one shot color camera which is cooled and has a much larger chip. Also no more need for darks.
