Hi,

My LX90GPS with LNT is kept permanently in my unheated observatory, my problem has always been as soon as the weather gets colder ( say around 0'degrees) is sometimes it will NOT get a GPS fix. I can sometimes overcome this problem with the aid of a hairdryer but even this sometimes wont work. Last winter I installed a small heater to keep it just above freezing and this seemed to work 95% of the time but after seeing the HUGE increase in my fuel bill I'm trying to do without it.

I would like to ask if anybody else had this problem and if so how did they overcome it!?

Regards Dave.

Hi David,

I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my LX200R.  I've removed the side fork cover and reseated connectors.  This seemed to have worked for a few months, but then the problem recurred.

I wholly believe it is a thermal problem, perhaps similar to the old "chip creep" problem when older computers had push in RAM, etc..  When it gets cold I do not get a GPS fix, and receive the dreaded "no sensor board found" error.   I'm currently having this problem but just blow by it (by hitting MODE) and manually entering the date, time and location. I actually do not have to enter my location as I've entered it and saved it previously.  Autostar just asks for me to confirm the location.  If you don't mind doing all that at startup, then this problem is more of a nusance than anything else.  If you do mind, then I'd call lMeade for support.

Best Regards,

Jerry

thanks again for your advise, Dave.
