So I am tired of messing with my LNT finderscope, watching it turn around and around, dealing with meade (replaced it 3 times).  I want to trash the LNT unit and fit another finderscope, I figure I can balance and align the scope north manually and do a better job than the LNT, but I still need a good finder scope to fine tune my telescope alignment when viewing.

I am assuming that because of the fabulous LNT module meade has created, others have done this.  Can the community please help a newbie in astronomy, by letting him know what finder scopes others are using to replace their LNT's.  I know I may have to jerry rigg it to the scope, but the easier the better.  Much appreciated.  Thanks

Sorry, did not mean to beat a dead horse.  Just wanted to know what people thought the best and latest finderscopes would be best for my DS2130.

Jeff:

I got rid of my LNT on mt ETX90 and replaced it with a simple Red Dot Finder (RDF) that I attached with two-sided tape.  It's very light and works like a charm.  I don't know the focal length of your scope, but either an RDF or a 6X30 finder scope would probably work just fine.  You could even go to something like a Telrad. For the 6X30, I'd probably want to tap in a base shoe with screws, but the RDF and Telrad I wouldn't hesitate to attach with two-sided heavy duty tape made for the outdoors.

I consider my telrad finder one of the best accessories that I have.  It is inexpensive and really make finding objects in space easy ... especially if you buy the star hoping inserts for it. The telrad's mount is held inplace by double sided tape ... sound cheap but it works great.
