What is the 10" LX200 Max load for piggy back? Do anyone know it?
Thanks for your feed back.

Joseph,

Assuming you have a good rail system above and below for counterweights,  the max load I put on my 10" LX200R is about 20 lbs - INCLUDING the rails and the counterweights.  And I find this is pushing it a little.  If you DO load it down with more than 10-15 pounds, be sure to set your max slew rate to 3% or less, as this puts a noticable (and audible!!) strain on the gears.  I have a VERY heavy TeleVue NP101is on top of my Meade, and I need 10 pounds of counterweights underneath and one pound on the East fork for balance, and this is probably a bit much as I can hear the gears strain when it "goes over backwards" to point at the Northern sky fields.  I seem to remember Mark Sibole commenting on this question sometime in the past - anything to add, Mark?

Cheers,

Thanks Toxo,

That may be enough for me. I plan to add a 120ED Skywatcher or Astro Tech 106 APO on it for CCD image. I think that is around 15lbs.  Grin

May I ask one more question? Where I can find the method to make the well balance? I know how to do the german mount, but I don't know how to do the fork mount. Thanks guy.  Kiss Kiss Kiss

Cheer,
Joseph

I wouldnt go more than 20 pounds
I have a 102 mm APO weighing 15 pounds and 10 pounds of counter weight on mine so im really over loaded.
But it will work  juat make sure you have a very good balance and set the max slew rate in the hand paddle to something a lot slower
I think in at 3 on mine.
This reduces wear on the gears.

Regards

Mark
