Another clear night!! Last for awhile.
Was able to get some frames on two neat galaxies and a nebula.

NGC2903 is a barred spiral galaxy in Leo, 12 x 6 arc min. Fifteen - 15 min
exposures, cropped 50%. Said to very similar in size and shape to our Milky Way.

NGC3521 is a small spiral galaxy in Leo, 9.5 x 5 arc min. Twenty five - 20
minute exposures cropped 50%. This one required long exposure times to bring out the faint
halo area.

IC2169 reflection nebula in Monoceros. Seventeen - 10 minute exposures cropped 15%.

The two galaxy images were stretched quite a bit and could probably use some more frames,
if I ever get a clear night!

Meade SN10 [10" - f/4] on an Atlas EQ-G.
Camera: QHY8 single shot color with MPCC.
Guiding: Orion ST80, DSI & PHD.
Captured with Nebulosity.
Stacked with DSS and processed in Photoshop, Noise Ninja, Focus Magic.
Software flats.
Seeing/transparency 7/8.

Thanks for looking,

Brent

Those are crazy with detail! NASA should hire you!

Question, how do you think those would come out with a DSI III Pro and a 6" refractor?

Probably not too bad. The DSI lll pro would have 1.3 MP vs 6 MP for the QHY8 but the fact that the DSI pro is B&W you would actually have about the same resolution. The 6" refractor would have less overall resolution than a 10" scope due to aperture size but since seeing conditions limit the ultimate resolution to around 2-3 arc seconds per pixel there might not be too much difference. The 6" would require longer exposures for the same results however.

It would be an interesting experiment to compare photos.
