Any recommendations for eyepieces? Bought my PST a couple of days ago but have not been able to make out any surface detail or flares etc. I'm using the packaged 20mm Kellner and my old Meade super plossls.

Many thanks in advance. Alan

OK I know I answered this earlier today.
Ill try it igain.
The supplied eyepiece will work fine to resolve the features on the disk and flares.
Make sure you have a good focus and your doppler is adjusted right.
The doppler as I call it is the adjustment in the middle of the scope.
Just at the end of the black housing where the gold tube attaches.
This adjusts the bandwidth to reveal the surface details and solar flares.
It is explained in the manual.
If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

The reason you haven't seen any surface detail is that there hasn't been much recently.

I've been very busy lately, although I'm hoping to go out later if it clears. I usually post my latest Sun picture here:

I've done a lot of detailed analysis on the PST and feel that the supplied eyepiece does NOTHING to sell the telescope and have said so in print. Meade Super Plossls would certainly work on a good day but I find the CEMAX 12mm eyepiece (the most expensive eyepiece I have ever bought) will outperform Series 3000 and 4000 Plossls. I think anything more than that is disproportionally expensive for a PST, so I haven't tried any Naglers, etc.

I wish Coronado would make some shorter focal length CEMAX eyepieces, especially around 8mm, although I sometimes use a Barlow lens, although not many will work with the PST, due to the lack of focus travel.
