Last night I had something weird occur on my mount. While doing a 3 star alignment my 497 froze up and threw a motor  fault error. When I restarted evehrything I noticed the left right and up buttons were working fine however the down button wasnt working at all and even after I restarted it and reset it it still would not come back to life. I swapped out 12V sources and cables but had the same issue
I have never seen this type of behaviour on the 497 before.
An suggestions (besides throwing the entire LXD mount off the cliff)??
Thanks

I am not that familiar with the workings of the mount
I know if you are severly out of balance and or low voltage you will get the motor fault error.
You coulkd also check to make sure nothing is jammed up the the gears
Usually when a motor goes it goes but you state you only have problems in one direction.
You can also check the connections where the hand paddle plugs in to make sure no pins are bent or corroded.
Sometimes Ive heard the key pad will get wore out making you push real hard on the key to make it work but I havnt heard anything about that causing a motor fault.
