I have a newer computer and it doesnt have a RS-232 input. Can I buy an adapter to use one of my USB ports to control my scope? If so how long of a cable can I use?
Thanks Dave

Yes, a USB adapter will work to control your scope via Autostar Suite. Some usb adapters work better than others and, of course, those sold by Meade work fine. Suprisingly, some of the "high end" usb adapters with LEDs to indicate traffic flow do not work.

The USB cable itself will, without adding an active "repeater" or hub, go 3m (10 feet). The USB-to-RS232 adapter should, if it's any good, allow you to "talk over" a serial cable as long as the one you old PC used.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I will be picking up more parts as soon as I get past my girlfriend and daughters birthdays which are 2 days apart with Easter in the middle. This is becoming quite expensive. Its also getting hard to decided which which beast to feed. My Telescope, Computer or Guitar habit.
